LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating William Schutt upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the 2014 Geneseean of the Year Award
by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, William Schutt has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate William
Schutt upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014
Geneseean of the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce;
and
WHEREAS, William "Bill" Schutt has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Bill Schutt of Basom, New York, serves as the General Manager
of Mercy EMS where he manages a staff of approximately 60 to 70 individ-
uals and its fleet vehicles; he works hard to make his non-Genesee resi-
dent employees feel a part of the Genesee community, while working with
local businesses, political contacts, and Emergency services to meet the
needs and wants of his community; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding man is proficient in the many ways he serves
his community through coordinating, staffing, and maintaining the vital
emergency ambulance service; and
WHEREAS, Bill Schutt has invested many years into bettering the Gene-
see County community, serving over 25 years to the Alabama Volunteer
Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, During this time, Bill Schutt held several offices including
Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, and Lieutenant; he also served as chair of
many committees including the recruitment and the retention committee;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Bill Schutt serves as Fire Coordinator for Gene-
see County, as well as the West Battalion Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, Bill Schutt has been the recipient of many awards and acco-
lades for his heroic actions including the auspicious Fireman of the
Year Award, and the esteemed Service Award; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Bill
Schutt is such a firefighter; throughout over 25 years of devoted
service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call
of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Bill Schutt has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Bill Schutt has displayed throughout
his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate William Schutt upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2014 Geneseean of the Year Award by the Genesee County
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to William Schutt.
