LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Elizabeth Triggs upon the occasion of
her designation as a 2016 Senior Citizens Day Honoree by the New York
State Office for the Aging

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the senior
citizens of the Empire State who, as they reach the fullness of years,
continue to be active and vital participants in the life of their commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, Older New Yorkers bring their special wisdom, experience and
enthusiasm to countless endeavors, helping to shape and strengthen the
character of our communities and the quality of our lives; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Elizabeth
Triggs upon the occasion of her designation as a 2016 Senior Citizens
Day Honoree by the New York State Office for the Aging; this momentous
occasion will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the Hart Thea-
tre Lounge in the Egg in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Office for the Aging pauses to acknowledge
the outstanding contributions made by older citizens from counties
across the State; Elizabeth Triggs is being recognized for her outstand-
ing contributions to Erie County during National Older Americans Month;
and
WHEREAS, Members of the older generation have helped build and shape
our Nation to be the greatest in the world; they have defended our free-
doms and values to ensure that those who come after them may have better
lives; nowhere in the nation is the legacy of their efforts more visible
and more a part of the lives of all citizens than here in the State of
New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1989, Elizabeth Triggs, a lifelong resident of Buffalo,
New York, began building a recognized block club on the Eastside in
order to take on the project of fixing up her neighborhood park where
members of the community and her five children could congregate and
play; and
WHEREAS, From this experience, Elizabeth Triggs started her outreach
and became the founder and CEO of None Like You - We Care Outreach, an
organization devoted to uplifting Buffalo's developing communities and
seeking to meet the needs of residents; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Triggs' organization is involved with projects such
as fixing up houses and neighborhoods, helping people quit drugs and
alcohol, providing the hungry with food, tutoring students taking the
GED, assisting with heat bills, and helping the youth find summer jobs;
and
WHEREAS, Volunteers which include students recruited from area
colleges and residents from the local neighborhood, complete all of the
organization's projects; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Elizabeth Triggs has been instrumental in apply-
ing for grants, meeting fundraising goals and hosting an annual dinner
to discuss new projects; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Triggs has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to giving back to the community and truly making a
difference, Elizabeth Triggs has given of her time and energy by helping
serve turkey dinners this past Thanksgiving and Christmas in four sepa-
rate locations across the City of Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, A steadfast and dedicated community volunteer, Elizabeth
Triggs serves as a member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
Advisory Council; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Triggs is the proud parent of five children, the
loving grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; she
earned a degree in Business Administration and Human Services from The
State University College at Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Elizabeth Triggs has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Elizabeth Triggs has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and commend those who have witnessed and contributed to the devel-
opments and achievements of our Nation, State and communities over the
course of their noteworthy lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Elizabeth Triggs upon the occasion of her designation as a 2016
Senior Citizens Day Honoree by the New York State Office for the Aging;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Elizabeth Triggs.
