LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Chris Kasprzak upon the occasion of
her designation as a 2016 Senior Citizens Day Honoree by the New York
State Office for the Aging
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the senior
citizens of the Empire State who, as they reach the fullness of years,
continue to be active and vital participants in the life of their commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, Older New Yorkers bring their special wisdom, experience and
enthusiasm to countless endeavors, helping to shape and strengthen the
character of our communities and the quality of our lives; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Chris Kaspr-
zak upon the occasion of her designation as a 2016 Senior Citizens Day
Honoree by the New York State Office for the Aging; this momentous occa-
sion will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the Hart Theatre
Lounge in the Egg in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Office for the Aging pauses to acknowledge
the outstanding contributions made by older citizens from counties
across the State; Chris Kasprzak is being recognized for her outstanding
contributions to Erie County during National Older Americans Month; and
WHEREAS, Members of the older generation have helped build and shape
our Nation to be the greatest in the world; they have defended our free-
doms and values to ensure that those who come after them may have better
lives; nowhere in the nation is the legacy of their efforts more visible
and more a part of the lives of all citizens than here in the State of
New York; and
WHEREAS, Chris Kasprzak is a vibrant part of the Town of Cheektowaga's
Senior Center where she is known as the energizer bunny; and
WHEREAS, For over five years, Chris Kasprzak has been involved with
the Senior Center and organizes the congregate dining site; she contin-
ues her work even after the meal has been served; and
WHEREAS, Chris Kasprzak never stops thinking about the seniors at the
Senior Center, and is always filling in where there is a need, never
having to be asked to help; she is a cheerleader and advocate for the
seniors believing that participants and volunteers need to feel welcome
and important; and
WHEREAS, Chris Kasprzak is a vibrant example of an older adult and
someone that lives by the idea that to stay young you have to stay
active and be involved; she tries to encourage the seniors to live by
the same thought by encouraging participation and fun through her viva-
cious personality and sense of humor; and
WHEREAS, After retiring from the United States Postal Service, Chris
Kasprzak was not sure what was next for her until she became involved in
the Senior Center; she feels that the Senior Center has helped her even
more than she has helped it, and believes in making it a place where
participants are welcomed and treated like family; and
WHEREAS, Chris Kasprzak has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to giving back to the community and truly making a
difference, Chris Kasprzak also has given of her time and energy by
volunteering at Saint Philips School in West Seneca, New York, and at
several other West Seneca Schools; and
WHEREAS, Chris Kasprzak is the proud mother of one son and the loving
grandmother of two grandchildren; she is a former long term employee for
Chudy Paper Company in Cheektowaga, New York; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her son and grandchildren, all
of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Chris Kasprzak has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Chris Kasprzak has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and commend those who have witnessed and contributed to the devel-
opments and achievements of our Nation, State, and communities over the
course of their noteworthy lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chris Kasprzak upon the occasion of her designation as a 2016
Senior Citizens Day Honoree by the New York State Office for the Aging;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chris Kasprzak.
