LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Merrill Lynch of Batavia, New
York, upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2014
Innovative Community Contribution of the Year Award by the Genesee Coun-
ty Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Merrill Lynch of Batavia, New York, upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as recipient of the 2014 Innovative Community Contribution of the
Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Merrill Lynch is receiving this auspicious award for its
outstanding volunteerism, dedication, and support to GLOW YMCA; and
WHEREAS, The employees of Merrill Lynch volunteer their time and ener-
gies to the YMCA, and support many of its events, including GLOW YMCA
which is fast becoming a hallmark of late summer in Batavia, New York;
and
WHEREAS, The YMCA benefits tremendously from the expertise of Merrill
Lynch employees who serve on the Corporate Board of the GLOW YMCA and
other committees; these employees generously share their time and know-
ledge to guiding the YMCA in making smart financial decisions for not
only today but for the future; and
WHEREAS, These exceptional employees have shown commitment and dedi-
cation to the YMCA's Camp Hough by supporting its Annual Golf Outing at
Silver Lake Country Club; the success of this event is directly attrib-
utable to the volunteer efforts of the staff at Merrill Lynch; and
WHEREAS, In 2013, Merrill Lynch employees, including Senior Financial
Advisor, John Riter, conceived and executed the first Annual GLOW Corpo-
rate Cup and AfterGLOW office party at Centennial Park in Batavia, New
York; this event experienced tremendous growth in 2014, and promises to
become an annual tradition to the residents of the community; and
WHEREAS, The YMCA has been fortunate enough to be the beneficiary of
the proceeds from two Corporate Cups; these funds offer critical assist-
ance providing services to all, including those who do not have the
ability to pay for programs and services; and
WHEREAS, Merrill Lynch has demonstrated great largesse and the YMCA
believes it to be an exemplar of excellent corporate citizenship deserv-
ing of this recognition; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body recog-
nizes the many contributions of Merrill Lynch, and wishes this vital
corporation continued success in its proactive mission to benefit the
communities it represents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Merrill Lynch of Batavia, New York, upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the 2014 Innovative Community Contrib-
ution of the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Merrill Lynch, and Senior Financial Advisor John Riter.
