LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Hobart Book Village upon the occasion of
its designation as Tourism Property of the Year by the Delaware County
Chamber of Commerce on May 6, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the achievements of individuals, organizations, and businesses
which contribute substantially to the economic health and vitality of
the communities of the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Hobart Book Village upon the occasion of its designation as Tourism
Property of the Year by the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, to be
celebrated on Friday, May 6, 2016, at SUNY Delhi, Delhi, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the
cooperative efforts of the business and residential community in
preserving the quality, character, and vitality of businesses in the
County of Delaware and, each year, proudly honors those in the communi-
ty, such as Hobart Book Village, which helps to further these goals; and
WHEREAS, Hobart Book Village is an eclectic collection of interesting
shops for those who enjoy books, located in and around the picturesque
Northern Catskill village of Hobart, New York; and
WHEREAS, Modeled on successful communities around the world, Hobart
has recently been named among the top book villages in the world by THE
GUARDIAN newspaper in the United Kingdom; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Hobart Book Village is the result of a
shared community vision, mutual trust and tireless hard work and dedi-
cation; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the success of Hobart Book Village, recognizes its contributions
to the local and State economies, and fully confident that, in its
future, it will enjoy the same sparkling success which has so character-
ized its past; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Hobart Book Village upon the occasion of its designation as Tour-
ism Property of the Year by the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce on
May 6, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Hobart Book Village.
