LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Alonso upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert Alonso
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Robert Alonso has distin-
guished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and matu-
rity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposeful-
ness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Robert Alonso, a student at Chester Academy High School in
Chester, New York, is ranked 3rd in his class with a 4.0 GPA; he partic-
ipated in numerous sports including soccer, basketball and baseball; and
WHEREAS, A ShopRite student-athlete, Robert Alonso is also captain of
the soccer team; he plans to attend SUNY New Paltz to major in computer
science; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Robert Alonso enjoys volunteering
his time and energy at the Alyssa Barberi Memorial, Chester Little Leag-
ue and Chester Soccer; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Robert Alonso
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Robert Alonso may stand with pride in his achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he continues
his education; and
WHEREAS, Robert Alonso represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Alonso upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish him well in his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Alonso.
