LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dr. Melvin I. Urofsky upon the occa-
sion of his induction into the Liberty Central School District Wall of
Fame on June 25, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those distinguished citizens who devote their time and ener-
gies to the service of their community and profession, participating in
civic affairs and enhancing the character and quality of life for all
citizens; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Dr. Melvin I. Urofsky upon the occasion of his induction into the Liber-
ty Central School District Wall of Fame to be celebrated on Saturday,
June 25, 2016, at the Liberty Central High School, Liberty, New York;
and
WHEREAS, The Liberty Central School District Wall of Fame was created
by the Board of Education as a way to honor Liberty High School alumni
who have made significant contributions to society; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Class of 1957, Dr. Melvin I. Urofsky is
currently an author, lecturer and Professor of Law and Public Policy as
well as Professor Emeritus of History at Virginia Commonwealth Universi-
ty in Richmond, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Melvin I. Urofsky is best known for his book, LOUIS BRAN-
DEIS: A LIFE; he spent 45 years writing this award-winning book; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Melvin I. Urofsky has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors, and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of many literary awards, Dr. Melvin I. Urofsky
has been honored with the National Jewish Book Award and the Ambassador
Book Award; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Dr. Melvin I. Urofsky
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Melvin I. Urofsky upon the occasion of his induction into
the Liberty Central School District Wall of Fame on June 25, 2016; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Melvin I. Urofsky.
