LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kelsey Collins upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic
Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kelsey Collins
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2016 Senior
Scholar-Athlete; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Kelsey Collins has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, Kelsey Collins, a student at Eldred Junior-Senior High School
in Eldred, New York, has earned a 92.86 GPA, and is ranked sixth in her
class; she is a member of National Honor Society and the Varsity Club;
and
WHEREAS, On the field and on the court, Kelsey Collins has partic-
ipated in cross country, soccer, basketball, and softball; she also
served as Basketball Captain; and
WHEREAS, Kelsey Collins has been active in her community with local
clean-ups, blood drives, veteran cross painting and Binkowski's Eldred
Youth Clinic; and
WHEREAS, Kelsey Collins plans to attend Hartwick College in Oneonta,
New York, and major in nursing while playing basketball; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Kelsey Collins
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Kelsey Collins may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Kelsey Collins represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kelsey Collins upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2016 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish her well in her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kelsey Collins.
