LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Nora Salemi upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Bill Zenosky Criminal Justice Grant by
the Ken-Ton Friends of Youth Foundation on April 20, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Nora
Salemi upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Bill
Zenosky Criminal Justice Grant by the Ken-Ton Friends of Youth Founda-
tion, celebrated at its 18th Annual Shining Stars Awards Dinner on
Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at the Buffalo Yacht Club, Buffalo, New York;
and
WHEREAS, The Ken-Ton Friends of Youth Foundation is a not-for-profit
organization formed in 1997, to provide financial support for youth
programs and projects in the Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore;
this vital Foundation collaborates with other community agencies,
schools, businesses, and service organizations, which share the common
vision of providing increased opportunities for youth; and
WHEREAS, The Bill Zenosky Criminal Justice Grant is given to a young
person from the Ken-Ton area who will graduate or acquire their GED by
June of 2016, and to help them realize their educational and career
goals in the field of criminal justice; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing the value of her labors and the promise of her
future, the Ken-Ton Friends of Youth Foundation is proud to bestow this
auspicious award upon Nora Salemi; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Mount St. Mary Academy and a student at New
Vision Legal Academy, through Erie 1 BOCES, Nora Salemi plans on attend-
ing St. John Fisher College to study criminology; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Nora Salemi represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and parents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Nora Salemi upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Bill Zenosky Criminal Justice Grant by the Ken-Ton Friends of Youth
Foundation on April 20, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Nora Salemi.
