LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Deputy Darren Ladd upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2015 Civil Deputy of the Year Award
by the New York State Sheriff's Association

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote them-
selves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in
providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities
and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Deputy Darren
Ladd upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015 Civil
Deputy of the Year Award by the New York State Sheriff's Association,
celebrated at its Annual Winter Conference in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated member of the Madison County Civil Department
Team, Deputy Darren Ladd is dedicated to serving the sheriff's office,
the communities it serves and the entire law enforcement profession; and
WHEREAS, In 2001, Darren Ladd began his illustrious career with the
Madison County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division, where he committed his
efforts to traffic safety and enforcement; throughout his tenure, he
trained and earned certification as an accident reconstructionist;
today, he holds the title of Senior Reconstruction Investigator, super-
vising two other deputies in their assignments; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Darren Ladd became a Certified Child Safety Seat
Instructor and Technician; throughout the last nine years, he has duti-
fully inspected numerous child safety seats, ensuring the safety of the
communities' smallest citizens; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Darren Ladd was also a member of the Madison County
Sheriff's Snowmobile Patrol Unit; currently he serves as a Snowmobile
Safety Training Instructor, instructing numerous Madison County resi-
dents how to safely operate a snowmobile; and
WHEREAS, In 2013, Deputy Darren Ladd accepted the position of primary
Civil Deputy; in this capacity, he has served 125 civil and 295 family
court papers, monitored 135 evictions, supervised 11 property seizures,
and served numerous orders of protection; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his tireless work as a full-time Civil Deputy,
Deputy Darren Ladd has been a lead team member for the Sheriff's Warrant
Unit; in 2015, he located and arrested approximately 83 wanted persons
in Madison County and the surrounding areas, some of whom were fugitives
placed on the Madison County Sheriff's Top 10 Most Wanted List, which he
helped manage; he was also instrumental in coordinating efforts to
apprehend wanted individuals with other local, state and federal law
enforcement agencies; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, Deputy Darren Ladd joined the Navigation Patrol, and
successfully completed the New York State Parks Service Law Enforcement
Navigation Course; since then, he has spent numerous hours patrolling
the waterways of Madison County; after receiving his Boater Safety
certification, he taught the Agency's Boater Safety Course during the
2015 boating season; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable public servant also holds the title of Madi-
son County Sheriff's Office Senior Crisis Negotiator, and volunteers his
time and energy giving talks to local high school students about the
dangers of driving while intoxicated during high school prom season; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
and heroic law enforcement officers such as Deputy Darren Ladd for their
valued contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Deputy Darren Ladd upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the 2015 Civil Deputy of the Year Award by the New York State
Sheriff's Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Deputy Darren Ladd.
