LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Andrew Kenney upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Young Alumnus in Public Administration
and Policy Award by Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Andrew Kenney
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Young Alumnus
in Public Administration and Policy Award by the Rockefeller College of
Public Affairs & Policy, to be celebrated at its Annual Alumni Dinner &
Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 13, 2016, at the New York State Museum,
Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Kenney earned his Bachelor's degree in Political
Science from Siena College; he then received his Master's degree in
Public Administration from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs &
Policy; and
WHEREAS, For over a decade, Andrew Kenney was employed at the New York
State Division of the Budget and the New York State Assembly, where he
developed a detailed understanding of New York's fiscal and economic
development policies and programs; and
WHEREAS, After leaving the Division of Budget, Andrew Kenney joined
Governor Andrew Cuomo's staff as the Deputy Director of State Operations
for Police; in this capacity, he oversees the day-to-day management of
state government; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Shannon, and his
three sons, Peter, Ian and Ryan, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his/her accomplishments
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Andrew Kenney upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Young Alumnus in Public Administration and Policy Award by Rockefel-
ler College of Public Affairs & Policy; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Andrew Kenney.
