LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Susan M. Martin, outgoing President of
the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, for her outstanding service and
commitment to her community on June 23, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the leaders of commerce and industry who contribute to the
economic health and prosperity, and to the quality of life, of the
communities of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is proud to commend Susan M.
Martin, outgoing President of the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, for
her outstanding service and commitment to her community; and
WHEREAS, Susan M. Martin will be honored at the Massapequa Chamber of
Commerce Annual Installation Luncheon to be celebrated at Smuggler
Jack's, Massapequa, New York, on Thursday, June 23, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in September of 1948, the Massapequa
Chamber of Commerce has been serving the business needs of the Massape-
qua community by encouraging and promoting high ethical and moral busi-
ness practices for the commercial, civic and social betterment of its
localities; and
WHEREAS, For almost seven decades, members of the Massapequa community
have worked to represent the special needs of all the local businesses
working together; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous guidance of Susan M. Martin, this vital
organization has provided leadership through its various programs and
projects and encourages its members to take an active role in represent-
ing its community and making it a better place for all to live, work and
prosper; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Susan M. Martin has accomplished
numerous goals including continuing to improve the organization's
website and communication abilities with its members, initiated weekly
e-blasts for the benefits of its membership, and not only maintained,
but increased the Chamber's membership; and
WHEREAS, In addition, due to Susan M. Martin's steadfast and unremit-
ting commitment, the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce was recognized as
the 2016 Best Chamber of Commerce of Long Island; and
WHEREAS, Local Chambers of Commerce have made important contributions
to New York State's progress and prosperity and have long been integral
to the State's economic development; and
WHEREAS, Individuals, such as Susan M. Martin, who give of their time
and energy and serve the best interests of their communities are an
asset beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Susan M. Martin has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership, working dili-
gently and with great enthusiasm to improve Massapequa and surrounding
communities; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her years of service as an officer of the Massape-
qua Chamber of Commerce, a period of constructive involvement, Susan M.
Martin has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the citizens and businesses of Massapequa which has been
displayed by Susan M. Martin; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Susan M. Martin, outgoing President of the Massapequa Chamber of
Commerce, for her outstanding service and commitment to her community;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Susan M. Martin.
