LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the DUMBO
Improvement District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the dedi-
cated efforts and achievements of those organizations that substantially
contribute to the liveliness and well-being of the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 10th Anniversary of the DUMBO Improvement District; and
WHEREAS, Guided by the leadership of Alexandria Sica, the DUMBO
Improvement District has become a significant community development
organization in the City of New York; and
WHEREAS, The DUMBO Improvement District is one of Brooklyn's largest
business improvement groups, providing a model of how to serve resi-
dents, businesses, and visitors alike; and
WHEREAS, The DUMBO Improvement District has been working to enhance
the quality of life in the community by providing a clean, safe, and
vibrant neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, The DUMBO Improvement District has worked tirelessly in
collaboration with other community organizations in the Brooklyn Tech
Triangle to transform the neighborhood into a dynamic space that
welcomes entrepreneurs and contributes to the local innovation economy;
and
WHEREAS, The DUMBO Improvement District has invested in the community
in both the short and long-term, in a myriad of ways, from making DUMBO
one of the first neighborhoods to have free wireless internet service,
to supporting a wide variety of cultural programs, to its community
advocacy; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those individ-
uals and organizations which strengthen the well-being and prosperity of
their community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excel-
lence have earned the recognition and gratitude of all the citizens of
this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the many contributions of the DUMBO Improvement District, and
wishes this valuable organization continued success in its mission to
advance the communities it represents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the DUMBO Improvement District; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the DUMBO Improvement District.
