LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Maria Elisa Cuadra Fernandez upon the
occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2016 Woman of the Year
Award by The Zonta Club of Greater Queens

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Maria Elisa Cuadra Fernandez has given not only of her time
and energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Maria Elisa
Cuadra Fernandez upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2016 Woman of the Year Award by The Zonta Club of Greater Queens, to
be celebrated at its Women of the Year Awards Dinner, on Wednesday, May
11, 2016, at Giardino's Ristorante, Douglaston, New York; and
WHEREAS, Chartered in June of 2003, the mission of The Zonta Club of
Greater Queens is to advance the status of women, girls and their fami-
lies through service and advocacy, locally and globally; and
WHEREAS, Maria Elisa Cuadra Fernandez serves as Executive Director/CEO
of Community Organization for Parents and Youth, Inc. (COPAY) of Great
Neck, New York; she has brought great credit upon herself by continually
demonstrating an impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an
unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of the programs and opportunities
offered at COPAY; and
WHEREAS, Maria Elisa Cuadra Fernandez has been called upon to contrib-
ute her time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
has always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Maria Elisa Cuadra Fernandez has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Maria Elisa Cuadra Fernandez upon the occasion of her designation
as recipient of the 2016 Woman of the Year Award by The Zonta Club of
Greater Queens; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Maria Elisa Cuadra Fernandez.
