LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jennifer Mall Flad upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of a Young Professionals Award by the
SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jennifer Mall Flad upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
a Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
WHEREAS, A native of Callicoon Center, New York, Jennifer Mall Flad
graduated from Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central School in 1994, and
attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she
earned her Bachelor's degree in Peace, War and Defense; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Jennifer Mall Flad worked for
a historical research firm in Washington, DC, focused on environmental
cleanup litigation; she later served with the National Park Service at
Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colora-
do, Redwood in California, and Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller in Vermont;
and
WHEREAS, Jennifer Mall Flad also completed her Master's degree in
Environment and Community via Humboldt State University before returning
to Sullivan County to take a position as a Research Assistant in the
Division of Planning in 2008; and
WHEREAS, While serving in the Sullivan County Division of Planning,
this esteemed woman quickly rose through the ranks to become a junior
planner and later, the County's agricultural planner; in this signif-
icant position, she gained deeper understanding of Sullivan County's
farmers, growers and Agricultural supporters; and
WHEREAS, In 2013, Jennifer Mall Flad was hired by the Sullivan County
Industrial Development Agency (IDA), where she currently serves as the
Vice President for Government Affairs and Business Development; and
WHEREAS, During her illustrious tenure with the IDA, Jennifer Mall
Flad has worked closely with businesses to develop incentives which can
help increase the economic health of her community while preserving the
area's environment; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer Mall Flad has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; she graciously gives of her time
as a volunteer with the Cornell Cooperative Extension and as a member of
their Ag Task Force; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jennifer Mall Flad has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband Josh and their son,
Charlie, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jennifer Mall Flad upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of a Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jennifer Mall Flad.
