LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Charles J. Meder Library at Finger
Lakes Community College upon the occasion of being named the 2016
Academic Library of the Year by the Rochester Regional Library Council

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York is reflective of certain exemplary institutions whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full-accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is just proud to commend the
Charles J. Meder Library at Finger Lakes Community College upon the
occasion of being named the 2016 Academic Library of the Year by the
Rochester Regional Library Council, to be celebrated at its Annual Meet-
ing on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Casa Larga, Fairport, New York; and
WHEREAS, Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) is a multi-type
library network serving libraries and library systems in the five-county
Rochester region of Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and Wyoming coun-
ties; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the RRLC recognizes outstanding libraries which
have provided exceptional service to their communities; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Director of Library Learning
Resources, Sarah Moon, the Charles J. Meder Library strives to provide
innovative, accurate and timely information services and resources which
support Finger Lakes Community College's (FLCC) learning-centered envi-
ronment, provide enriching life experiences and enhance the quality of
life throughout its community; and
WHEREAS, Open to all FLCC and State University of New York (SUNY)
students, faculty, and staff as well as to all residents of Ontario,
Livingston, Monroe, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates Counties, the Charles J.
Meder Library prides itself on offering its loyal patrons numerous inno-
vative programs such as music recording, viticulture and tourism
studies; and
WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by the Charles J. Meder Library is in
direct correlation to the efforts of the many individuals who have
supported the development of the library over the years; and
WHEREAS, Equally commendable are the Charles J. Meder Library's super-
bly-skilled staff, whose involvement is and has always been character-
ized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncom-
promising standard of excellence in all of their efforts on behalf of
the library and the population it serves; and
WHEREAS, Steeped in a proud and distinguished history, the Charles J.
Meder Library may take just pride in its purposeful growth, as it looks
forward to continuing to serve the educational, cultural and intellectu-
al needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an insti-
tution of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our atten-
tion, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Charles J. Meder Library at Finger Lakes Community College
upon the occasion of being named the 2016 Academic Library of the Year
by the Rochester Regional Library Council; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sarah Moon, Director of Library Learning Resources, the
Charles J. Meder Library.
