LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Kevin Keeley upon the occasion of his
retirement as President and CEO of the Chemung County Chamber of
Commerce after many years of distinguished service

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who are devoted to the welfare of their community and its citizen-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Kevin Keeley upon the occasion of his retirement as President and CEO of
the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce after many years of distinguished
service; this momentous occasion will be celebrated on Thursday, May 26,
2016, at the Holiday Inn Riverview, Elmira, New York; and
WHEREAS, A man of true integrity, Kevin Keeley leads by example; he
has served Chemung County with distinction, enthusiasm, dedication and
honor, and has overseen countless initiatives that have made his commu-
nity a better and stronger place to live; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Keeley began his illustrious career at the Greater
Syracuse Chamber of Commerce in 1971; his work brought him to such
diverse cities as Bridgeport, Buffalo and Phoenix before coming to the
Chemung Chamber in 1998; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Kevin Keeley, the Chemung Cham-
ber of Commerce has championed numerous initiatives to improve the busi-
ness climate of New York State, including Medicaid Reform, Workers
Compensation Reform, I 86 Funding, Skilled Workforce Training, Business
Tax Cuts, Unfunded Mandate Relief, Property Tax Cap, Natural Gas Drill-
ing, Reduced Energy Costs, Solutions for Education Funding and many
more; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Keeley has served on numerous boards, committees, and
task forces such as Southern Tier Economic Growth, Finger Lakes Wine
Country, Southern Tier Industries, Elmira-Corning Regional Airport,
Regional Job Fair, Chemung County Energy, Health Education Center, Wings
of Eagles, Twin Tiers Economic Development, CSS Workforce NY, Chemung
County Child Care Council, Elmira Downtown Development, Elmira Country
Club, and Southern Tier Economic Development; and
WHEREAS, For the past 18 years, Kevin Keeley has rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Chemung County, earning the admi-
ration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Kevin Keeley over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to
others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kevin Keeley upon the occasion of his retirement as President
and CEO of the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce after many years of
distinguished service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kevin Keeley.
