LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Richard F. Campany upon the occasion of
his retirement after 36 years of distinguished service as an agricul-
tural teacher at Alexandria Central School
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who are devoted to the welfare of their community and its citizen-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Richard F. Campany upon the occasion of his retirement after 36 years of
distinguished service as an agricultural teacher at Alexandria Central
School; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Richard F. Campany is the recipient of the
Alexandria Bay Citizen of the Year Award for his selfless dedication to
the Alexandria Bay youth and to the community at large; a celebration
will be held in his honor at the Chamber of Commerce's Citizen of the
Year banquet at Cavallario's Steak House on June 8, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Before embarking on his teaching career, Richard F. Campany
received a bachelor's and a master's degree from Cornell University; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure at Alexandria Central School, the agricul-
tural program has seen tremendous growth and gained several U.S. Depart-
ment of Agriculture grants, incorporating leadership training in the
classroom, and including competitions at the New York State Fair, county
fairs, and national FFA conferences; and
WHEREAS, Richard F. Campany has also led his students in sponsoring
bloodmobiles, highway clean-up programs and arranging petting zoos at
the school; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his teaching career, Richard F. Campany has
been a member of the Alexandria Bay Volunteer Fire Department for more
than 20 years, a Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Cyril's Catholic
Church, served on the Catholic Community of Alexandria Finance Council,
supported the Relay for Life River Rompers team and served as the
announcer at the community's annual figure skating show; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Richard F. Campany has been a member of the
Progressive Development Committee which works to enhance the Alexandria
Bay community where he has been especially active in maintaining the
community gardens at the Macsherry Library; and
WHEREAS, Richard F. Campany has earned the admiration, esteem and
affection of his students, his colleagues and the members of his commu-
nity; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Richard F. Campany upon the occasion of his retirement after 36
years of distinguished service as an agricultural teacher at Alexandria
Central School, and as the recipient of the Alexandria Bay's Citizen of
the Year Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Richard F. Campany.
