LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Luis Rojas upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on April 28, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Luis Rojas
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated at its
Third Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Kuhl's
Highland House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Luis Rojas has distinguished himself as a young man of super-
lative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of excel-
lence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely
achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Luis Rojas, a Senior at Middletown High School, Middletown,
New York, has plans to study music at a college within the State Univer-
sity of New York system after graduation; he then hopes to pursue a
career in music as a performer and producer; and
WHEREAS, A talented musician with wide range, Luis Rojas plays the
saxophone in several ensembles at Middletown High School including Wind
Ensemble, Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra and Sax Quartet; he was selected for
All-County Band, Jazz and Area All-State Ensembles; and
WHEREAS, Outside of school, Luis Rojas performs regularly with a
famous Mexican-influenced music group "Brazeros Musical"; he also plays
the piano and bass, and recently has set-up a small recording studio in
his home where he produces music for local young musicians; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Luis Rojas has
brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Luis Rojas may stand with pride in his achievements, experi-
encing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he continues
his education; and
WHEREAS, Luis Rojas represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Luis Rojas upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Luis Rojas.
