LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Emmanuel Alexander Smalls upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities
Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April 28, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Emmanuel Alex-
ander Smalls upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was
celebrated at its Third Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 28,
2016, at Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Emmanuel Alexander Smalls has distinguished himself as a
young man of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing
standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and
responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Emmanuel Alexander Smalls, a Senior at S. S. Seward Insti-
tute, Florida, New York, has plans to major in Environmental Technology
at the New York City College of Technology, after graduation; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Emmanuel Alexander Smalls will continue to run
his successful DJ/music entertainment company, Easy Life Co.; and
WHEREAS, A gifted artist, Emmanuel Alexander Smalls holds the title of
Vice President of the Art Club and is constantly involved in many art
projects at his school; this year, he completed a five by six foot mural
for the school library and designed the banners which will be installed
on the light posts in the school parking lot; and
WHEREAS, In previous years, Emmanuel Alexander Smalls designed the
yearbook cover, performed in the drama production of "Grease" and was
the DJ at several middle school dances; and
WHEREAS, Last summer, Emmanuel Alexander Smalls proudly served as an
intern for the Art and Literacy Program at Red Bull Studios; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Emmanuel Alex-
ander Smalls has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Emmanuel Alexander Smalls may stand with pride in his
achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of
his accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as
he continues his education; and
WHEREAS, Emmanuel Alexander Smalls represents the potential inherent
in our most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is
pleased to honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the
promise of his future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Emmanuel Alexander Smalls upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster
BOCES, and to wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Emmanuel Alexander Smalls.
