LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring RobinAnn McGonigle Pope upon the occa-
sion of her designation as recipient of the Adult Presidential Bronze
Service Award by the Merrick Association of Girl Scouts

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of New
York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the community;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
RobinAnn McGonigle Pope upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Adult Presidential Bronze Service Award by the Merrick Asso-
ciation of Girl Scouts, to be celebrated at an Awards Ceremony on
Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Merrick Golf Course, Merrick, New York;
and
WHEREAS, RobinAnn McGonigle Pope has been called upon to contribute
her time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the past few years, RobinAnn McGonigle Pope has
donated 152 hours of service to Merrick Association of Girl Scouts Troop
2251, where she has enjoyed helping children reach their full potential
by guiding them on their journey to successful futures; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the Girl Scouts, RobinAnn McGo-
nigle Pope spends many hours doing voluntary work organizing a candy
drive for United States veterans overseas, collecting holiday cards to
send to veterans, organizing and collecting food for the turkey drive,
and organizing a sock drive for families in need during the holidays;
and
WHEREAS, RobinAnn McGonigle Pope also gives of her time and energy
distributing valentines to assisted living residents, as well as
collecting gently used toys, clothes and household items for donation to
Vietnam Veterans of America; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, RobinAnn McGonigle Pope has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and serv-
ing can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of her duties and volunteer
efforts, RobinAnn McGonigle Pope's ongoing endeavors have significantly
contributed to bettering the quality of life in her community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor RobinAnn McGonigle Pope upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Adult Presidential Bronze Service Award by the Merrick
Association of Girl Scouts; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to RobinAnn McGonigle Pope.
