LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Catholic Charities upon the occasion
of hosting its Fourth Annual Night at the Museum and paying tribute to
this year's honorees on June 23, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Catholic Charities upon the occasion of hosting its Fourth Annual Night
at the Museum and paying tribute to this year's honorees, to be cele-
brated on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at the New York State Museum, Albany,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities, a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of
Albany, recognizes human needs at all stages of life, and responds to
all persons regardless of race, creed, or lifestyle, with special empha-
sis on the economically poor and the vulnerable; and
WHEREAS, This year, Catholic Charities is honored to recognize the
Capital Region Builders & Remodelers Association and Reverend Kenneth J.
Doyle for their steadfast and unremitting commitment to their communi-
ties; and
WHEREAS, The Capital Region Builders & Remodelers Association (CRBRA)
is comprised of builders, developers, remodelers, architects, engineers,
trade contractors, material suppliers and professionals from associated
industries throughout the region; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization proudly represents seven counties
including Albany, Columbia, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga and
Schenectady Counties; and
WHEREAS, Affiliated with the New York State Builders Association and
the National Association of Home Builders, the CRBRA represents more
than 140,000 business members which construct approximately 80% of all
new homes built in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Following his ordination on May 28, 1966, Reverend Kenneth J.
Doyle served his community with much loyalty and devotion in numerous
capacities including Instructor in Religion at Cardinal McCloskey High
School, Associate Pastor of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, Editor
of The Evangelist; and Chaplain of both Kenwood Academy of the Sacred
Heart and Doane Stuart School; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle served St. John's
Parish in Valatie, New York, as a Weekend Parish Associate; Bureau Chief
for the National Catholic News Service in Rome, Italy; Information Offi-
cer of the United States Catholic Conference, Washington, DC; Director
of Government Relations, New York State Catholic Conference, Albany, New
York; and Director for Media Relations, United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops, Washington, DC; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle is the Pastor of the
Parish of Mater Christi, Albany, New York, a position he has held since
1992, as well as Chancellor, since 2000, for Public Information, Diocese
of Albany; and
WHEREAS, As Pastor, Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle was instrumental in
overseeing the construction and opening of the Mater Christi, the last
church to have been built in the Diocese; and
WHEREAS, Today, he serves as Chairman of the Albany County Airport
Authority Board, and a Board Member of St. Peter's Health Partners;
Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle is also the author of a question and answer
weekly column circulated in more than 100 Catholic publications; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and associations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Catholic Charities upon the occasion of hosting its Fourth Annu-
al Night at the Museum and paying tribute to this year's honorees on
June 23, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Catholic Charities, the Capital Region Builders and Remode-
lers Association and The Reverend Kenneth J. Doyle.
