LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Pamela Sawchuk Brown upon the occasion
of her designation as recipient of the Founder's Award by Capital Region
Sponsor-A-Scholar, Inc. on June 2, 2016

WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons and organ-
izations that provide exemplary service, whether through participation
in voluntary programs, through unique personal achievement in their
profession or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good
citizenship; and
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the
great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good
works of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate
their lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Pamela Sawchuk
Brown upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Founder's
Award by Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar, Inc., to be celebrated at its
Annual Graduation Celebration held on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the
Italian American Community Center, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, After beginning her career as an award winning journalist at
the ALBANY TIMES UNION and KNICKERBOCKER NEWS, Pamela Sawchuk Brown
helped found Sawchuk Brown Associates, which grew to be the largest
public relations agency in upstate New York; and
WHEREAS, Following the merger of Sawchuk Brown Associates with Syra-
cuse-based Eric Mower and Associates in 2008, Pamela Sawchuk Brown
became a partner in EMA's Albany office; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Pamela Sawchuk Brown serves as Vice President for
Community Development at Albany Medical Center where she is responsible
for establishing partnerships and alliances to support the hospital's
mission in the community; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed woman is a Director of both the
Howard & Bush Foundation and the Center for Economic Growth, and holds a
gubernatorial appointment to the New York State Archives Partnership
Trust; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Sawchuk Brown has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; she has served on the boards of
the Albany Institute of History and Art, Albany Medical Center and the
Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, A tireless advocate for young people, Pamela Sawchuk Brown
has been instrumental in launching a career exploration program at Alba-
ny Medical Center for Albany High School students; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding partnership enables Albany High School
students to benefit from hands-on experiences and in-depth conversations
with medical experts to learn about the realities of pursuing careers in
the health care professions; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Pamela Sawchuk Brown has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Pamela Sawchuk Brown has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Pamela Sawchuk Brown upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Founder's Award by Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar,
Inc. on June 2, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Pamela Sawchuk Brown.
