LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Barnes upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the CYO-Troy Youth Association,
Inc. on June 9, 2016

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Robert Barnes has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert Barnes
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
CYO-Troy Youth Association, Inc., to be observed at its 12th Annual
William J. Pascarell Person of the Year Celebration on Thursday, June 9,
2016, at the Italian Community Center, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Robert Barnes, affectionately known as Bob, has been called
upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic and charita-
ble endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Upon his graduation from Catholic Central High School, Bob
Barnes earned a degree in Recreation from Hudson Valley Community
College; he spent his illustrious career as Recreation Director for the
City of Troy's Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Bob Barnes was instrumental in the
development of facilities and programs at Frear Park, Knickerbocker and
Frear Ice Rinks and city pools; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Bob Barnes served as Event Director for the Troy
Turkey Trot, and currently serves as its Consultant; he is also a Travel
Agent for Meissner Cruise and Travel; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Bob Barnes has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Bob Barnes is a founding member and fundraising coordinator
for the Volunteer Recreational Youth Organization of Troy, raising
substantial funds for youth organizations throughout Troy; he has also
served on the boards of the Frear Park Conservancy and Collar City Live
Concerts; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Bob Barnes volunteers for the Troy CYO and the
Soup Kitchen of the Troy Italian Community Center; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Bob Barnes has displayed throughout
his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Barnes upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the CYO-Troy Youth Association, Inc. on June 9, 2016; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Barnes.
