LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Community
Bank, N.A. on May 26, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor and commem-
orate the proud and distinguished histories of financial institutions
which comprise the noble body of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 150th Anniversary of Community Bank, N.A.; and
WHEREAS, Bank and Canton, New York, community leaders celebrated this
auspicious occasion on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Canton Community
Bank, N.A. location; and
WHEREAS, This historic financial institution was founded by S.D.
Hungerford & Co. Bank in 1866, and was later renamed St. Lawrence County
Bank; and
WHEREAS, The first of the bank's branches was located in Canton, New
York, with just a handful of employees; and
WHEREAS, The bank was again renamed in the early 1990s, and today,
Community Bank, N.A. has a branch network of nearly 200 locations across
New York and northeastern Pennsylvania, and more than 2,000 employees;
and
WHEREAS, With total assets of approximately $8.6 billion, Community
Bank, N.A. is ranked among the country's 150 largest financial insti-
tutions; and
WHEREAS, Community Bank, N.A. proudly serves the financial needs of
those in smaller and rural communities; part of their mission and
philosophy is to ensure local decision making at each branch, enabling
the bank to compete effectively and efficiently; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body looks favorably upon the strong role
which institutions such as Community Bank, N.A. play in strengthening
the social and economic fabric of our communities through providing
growth opportunities for citizens and businesses; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Community Bank, N.A.; and to wish
this financial institution continued success in its vital work on behalf
of its customers; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Community Bank, N.A.
