LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Sherryl Ann McCauley upon the occasion
of her retirement after 18 years of distinguished service as a Communi-
cations Dispatcher with the Menands Police Department
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Sherryl Ann McCauley upon the occasion of her retirement after 18 years
of distinguished service as a Communications Dispatcher with the Menands
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the Village of Menands, Sherryl Ann
McCauley joined the Menands Police Department in 1998, after her beloved
husband, Chief of Police Michael E. McCauley, passed away; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Sherryl Ann McCauley was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, Active within the community she so ably serves, Sherryl Ann
McCauley has served as Past President of the Menands Fire Department
Ladies Auxiliary, and Past Vice President of the School Board of the
Menands Union Free School District; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, she has volunteered with Riverside Ambulance,
and given of her time and energy as a Girl Scout leader and Menands
School Ski Club chaperone; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as a Communications Dispatcher, Sherryl Ann
McCauley served with loyalty, honor and distinction, earning her the
admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, the late Michael E. McCauley,
with her throughout have been her daughter, Kyle (Douglas), and her two
grandsons, Zachary and Jackson, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Sherryl Ann McCauley over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedi-
cation to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those dedi-
cated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preser-
vation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full
praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sherryl Ann McCauley upon the occasion of her retirement after
18 years of distinguished service as a Communications Dispatcher with
the Menands Police Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sherryl Ann McCauley.
