LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of
Akron High School, in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor the youth of
today -- the leaders of tomorrow -- whose character and achievements
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize
and commend the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of Akron High School, in
recognition of their outstanding accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Akron High School's 2016 Valedictorian is Emma Chubb, and its
2016 Salutatorian is Rachel Heim, both of whom are being commended for
their outstanding academic performances and exemplary achievements; and
WHEREAS, An exceptional student, Emma Chubb is a member of the
National Honor Society, the recipient of the Bausch & Lomb Award, and
was named a Western New York Scholar Athlete; after graduation, she
plans to study pre-dental at college; and
WHEREAS, A vital part of her school community, Emma Chubb is a partic-
ipant on both the swim and cross-country teams, plays an instrument in
the band, and is a leader of her class; and
WHEREAS, A caring and compassionate young woman, she is an accom-
plished Girl Scout, and a member of the Donate Life Club, a multi-disci-
plinary program which assists groups of students at area high schools in
the planning, development and implementation of a campaign to increase
awareness about organ, tissue, and blood donation among their peers; and
WHEREAS, A member of the National Honor Society, Rachel Heim was named
a Western New York Scholar Athlete; after graduation, she plans to study
Exercise Science at the State University of New York at Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding athlete, Rachel Heim plays field hockey and is
a participant of the swim team; in addition, she is a member of the
Donate Life Club and the school band; and
WHEREAS, Emma Chubb and Rachel Heim may now stand with pride as they
assess their achievements, experience the satisfaction of their labors
and the joy of their accomplishments, eager to face the new experiences
of a challenging world; and
WHEREAS, These exceptional students of Akron High School represent the
best of developed potential inherent in our most precious resource, our
youth; their achievements have brought enduring honor to their families
and communities and should be recognized and saluted; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
students of outstanding character, who have shown initiative and commit-
ment toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves, and acting
as role models of leadership to be emulated by their peers; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of Akron High School, in
recognition of their outstanding accomplishments, and to extend to them
the best wishes of this Legislative Body for a future of purposeful
success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Emma Chubb and Rachel Heim.
