LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Virginia Esposito upon the occasion of
her retirement after 18 years of distinguished School Board Service
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Virginia Esposito upon the occasion of her retirement after 18 years of
distinguished School Board Service, to be celebrated at her last Board
Meeting on Thursday, June 9, 2016; she will officially retire on June
30, 2016; and
WHEREAS, For the past nine years, Virginia "Ginny" Esposito has
rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service as a member of the
Board to the Orange-Ulster BOCES; she also served as member and past
President of the Pine Bush Central School District Board of Education
(BOE) from 1998 through 2007; and
WHEREAS, As part of the Orange-Ulster Cooperative Board, Virginia
Esposito has been part of a team which works hard to provide quality
services to all students, including incarcerated youth and adult lear-
ners; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure, Virginia Esposito played a role in the
conception and oversight of the transformation of the Arden Hill Hospi-
tal into the Orange-Ulster BOCES Regional Education Center at Arden Hill
as well as providing oversight and support of the implementation and
expansion of the OUBOCES Autism program; and
WHEREAS, While serving as President of the Pine Bush BOE on 9/11,
Virginia Esposito was instrumental in the organization of the first
coordinated Orange County Swat Team and Air National Guard drills at
Pine Bush schools in preparation for possible active shooters breaching
the schools; and
WHEREAS, As a strong school advocate, Virginia Esposito oversaw the
implementation of the Outdoor Adventure Education program at Pine Bush
High School which provided an alternate physical education experience
for students and was the first in the County; as President of the Board
of Education, she was responsible for the administration of Academies at
the Pine Bush School District; and
WHEREAS, Each year, Virginia Esposito devoted many hours of her
personal time in order to attend every sporting event, musical and art
display at Pine Bush schools; and
WHEREAS, A long standing member of the New York State School Board
Association (NYSSBA), Virginia Esposito was selected as one of 12 NYSSBA
Board Members to be an advocate for education and a guest speaker for
organizations wanting to understand school budgets; she also received
recognition for her participation in numerous NYSSBA activities, and was
selected and served as a Presider for a number of NYSSBA conventions;
and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Virginia Esposito is a Pastor at
Maybrook United Methodist Church and has been a member or past member of
the following organizations: Walden Sportsmen's Club; Orange County
School Boards Association, where she served as Secretary, Treasurer, and
First Vice President; National Association of Paralegals; National
School Board Association; and the Classic Choral Society; and
WHEREAS, Presently, Virginia Esposito is the Confidential Secretary to
the County Attorney, Orange County Attorney's Office, and a Human Rights
Assistant with the Orange County Human Rights Commission; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure as a Board Member, Virginia Esposito served
with loyalty, honor, and distinction; she has earned the admiration,
esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Community leaders like Virginia Esposito provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
young people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in
their future years; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has clearly had an enduring impact on
the community, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for her
impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Virginia Esposito upon the occasion of her retirement after 18
years of distinguished School Board Service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Virginia Esposito.
