LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Waite Toyo-
ta
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 50th
Anniversary of Waite Toyota; and
WHEREAS, The Waite family began selling vehicles in Jefferson County,
namely Studebakers, in the 1920s; and
WHEREAS, The Waite family joined forces with Toyota in the 1960s,
beginning with a dealership in Adams, then moving to Adams Center, back
to Adams and eventually to Watertown in the late 80s, where the dealer-
ship still stands today; and
WHEREAS, Waite Toyota is a family business in the truest sense, as
Barry Waite's wife, Ellen, as well as his three sons, Darrick, Justin
and Matt, all play a role in the success of the business today; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the past five decades, Waite Toyota has expanded
to meet demands, and at the same time, has continued to provide its
top-notch service to its loyal customer base; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being known for exceptional customer service,
the Waite family has developed a reputation for providing individuals
from throughout the region with rewarding careers where they have an
opportunity to work alongside others who have a passion not only for
cars, but also for serving others; and
WHEREAS, A cornerstone of the North Country economy and the community,
Waite Toyota is truly an institution whose dedication to being a family
business, commitment to customers and passion for entrepreneurship will
enable the Waite family to achieve further success in the years to come;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Waite Toyota; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Waite family.
