LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Cara Long Corra upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the United Tenants of Albany
on June 16, 2016

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Cara Long
Corra upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the United Tenants of Albany, to be celebrated at its Annual Meeting on
Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed woman has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Cara Long Corra earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English
from The University at Albany, and a Master of Arts degree in Media Arts
from Emerson College; and
WHEREAS, In May of 2015, Cara Long Corra joined the Neighborhood Pres-
ervation Coalition of New York State, Inc. as a Policy and Outreach
Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, In her role, Cara Long Corra is responsible for the develop-
ment and implementation of member engagement strategies, researching
affordable housing policies and programs, and connecting Coalition
members with funding opportunities and networking best practices; and
WHEREAS, During her legislative internship and subsequent employment,
Cara Long Corra became more engaged in affordable housing and neighbor-
hood revitalization issues, and learned about the lack of affordable
housing options in New York State; and
WHEREAS, In addition, as a homeowner during the subprime mortgage
crisis, Cara Long Corra saw firsthand the destabilizing and dehumanizing
effects of predatory lending in low-income communities; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Cara Long Corra has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Cara Long Corra has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Cara Long Corra upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the United Tenants of Albany on June 16, 2016; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cara Long Corra.
