LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Michael Dennis De Luca upon the occa-
sion of his designation for special recognition by the Associazione
Culturale Pugliese Figli Maria S.S. Addolorata on June 18, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Michael Dennis De Luca upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Associazione Culturale Pugliese Figli Maria S.S.
Addolorata, to be celebrated at its 9th Annual Gala on Saturday, June
18, 2016, at Gargiulo's Restaurant, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Michael D. De Luca has contin-
ually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence, and
diligent leadership in his unwavering service to his community and
profession and consequently has been selected for this most prestigious
honor; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Michael D. De Luca
attended Xavier High School; after high school, he attended the American
McAllister Institute of Funeral Services; and
WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, Michael D. De Luca has
been called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic
and charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, For over 50 years, Michael D. De Luca has been a faithful
congregant of St. Athanasius Church in Brooklyn, where he has served in
many capacities; he has served as a lector, and participates on the
Board of Directors at St. Athanasius Academy; and
WHEREAS, Well-respected by many, Michael D. De Luca held the position
of Chairman of the Parishes' 75th, 90th and 100th Anniversary events and
helped raise significant funds for the Generations of Faith Campaign;
and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to both his community and the Catholic faith,
Michael D. De Luca is a vital participant of several religious organiza-
tions including Catholic Charities, the Bishops Coat of Arms and Honor,
and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Michael D. De Luca is a 4th degree member of
Joseph B. Cavallaro Knights of Columbus and belongs to the Bensonhurst
Bay Ridge Kiwanis Club; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Michael D. De Luca has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 43 years, Frances
Picone; his two daughters, Victoria Fitzgerald and Virginia Markovich;
and five grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Olivia, Luke and Harper, all of
whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Michael D. De Luca has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Michael Dennis De Luca upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Associazione Culturale Pugliese Figli Maria
S.S. Addolorata on June 18, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Dennis De Luca.
