LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending John and Maria Tamadge upon the occa-
sion of their designation for special recognition by the Associazione
Culturale Pugliese Figli Maria S.S. Addolorata on June 18, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
John and Maria Tamadge upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by the Associazione Culturale Pugliese Figli Maria
S.S. Addolorata, to be celebrated at its 9th Annual Gala on Saturday,
June 18, 2016, at Gargiulo's Restaurant, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, A man and woman of singular distinction, John and Maria
Tamadge have continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary
intelligence, and diligent leadership in their unwavering service to
their community and profession and consequently have been selected for
this most prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Born in June of 1961, John Tamadge was raised by his grand-
mother, Connie Quaranta, in Brooklyn, New York; in 1988, he began work-
ing for the New York City Department of Sanitation as a sanitation work-
er; he later became a shop steward of his garage, and currently, serves
as a delegate for Local 831; and
WHEREAS, Maria Tamadge, also a Brooklyn native, was born in February
of 1965, to Nicola and Chiara Spagnolo; in 1986, she began her career as
a paralegal; and
WHEREAS, One morning in May of 1986, Maria and John Tamadge crossed
paths on the corners of Broadway and Chambers Streets; three years
later, they were married, and happily raised their family in Gravesend,
Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Despite their busy professional lives, John and Maria Tamadge
have been called upon to contribute their time and talents to countless
civic and charitable endeavors and have always given of themselves
unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which they live and work, John
and Maria Tamadge served as co-Presidents of the Parent Teacher Associ-
ation of their son's school and participated in many school events; and
WHEREAS, Faithful parishioners of St. Athanasius Church, John and
Maria Tamadge are both Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist; devoted
to Saint Anthony, whom they honor each spring by praying the novena for
13 Tuesdays, they help distribute the bread during the annual proc-
ession; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, John and Maria Tamadge have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With them throughout have been their three children, Amanda
Marie, Daniela Nicole, and Jonpaul Dominick, all of whom feel privileged
to be a part of their lives and rejoice in their achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which John and Maria Tamadge have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend John and Maria Tamadge upon the occasion of their designation
for special recognition by the Associazione Culturale Pugliese Figli
Maria S.S. Addolorata on June 18, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John and Maria Tamadge.
