LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Wilda Hill upon the occasion of
celebrating her 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate and
recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great State
and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Wilda Hill upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, Wilda Hill was born on June 4, 1916, in Olean, New York, to
parents Joseph and Ora McBryar; and
WHEREAS, Wilda Hill graduated from Portville Central School and
attended Fredonia Normal School, obtaining a degree in education; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Wilda was employed as a teach-
er on Long Island and would later return to Portville where she married
the love of her life, William Hill; and
WHEREAS, Together, Wilda and her late husband, William, are the loving
parents of three children, Sharon Hill-McLarney, Rebecca Powell and Joe
Hill; today, Wilda is the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 13
great grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Wilda Hill was a homemaker, dedicating herself to taking care
of her family, and also substitute teaching; and
WHEREAS, Wilda Hill is a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian
Church in Portville and was the first female ruling elder in the congre-
gation; currently, she is the oldest living Portville Central School
Alumnus; and
WHEREAS, In the past, Wilda Hill thoroughly enjoyed playing golf and
bridge with her family and friends; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a remark-
able age and who have witnessed and celebrated the outstanding inno-
vations, cultural developments, and awesome achievements of this country
during the last century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Wilda Hill upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Wilda Hill.
