LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Janet Ndzibah upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2015 Woman of the Year Award by the
Bensonhurst West End Community Council

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, It is also the practice of this Legislative Body to take note
of and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this
great State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Janet Ndzibah upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2015 Woman of the Year Award by the Bensonhurst West End Community Coun-
cil to be celebrated at its 54th Annual Gala, at El Caribe, Brooklyn,
New York on Thursday, March 5, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, Janet Ndzi-
bah was inspired by her nurturing teachers at St. Patrick's Catholic
School in Bay Ridge to become an educator; and
WHEREAS, Janet Ndzibah earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education
from the State University of New York at Buffalo; upon graduation, she
began her career in education as a third grade teacher at PS 9 in
District 13, in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure at PS 9, Janet Ndzibah taught grades
two through five; concurrently, she obtained her Master's degree as a
Reading Teacher and Reading Specialist for Corrective Reading at the
City University of New York (CUNY) Hunter College, in Manhattan, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Janet Ndzibah then became a teacher of PS 13 in the Rosebank
section of Staten Island, New York, serving as a classroom teacher,
Reading Teacher, and Literacy Coach; and
WHEREAS, With the support of her family, mentors and school adminis-
trators, Janet Ndzibah received her Advanced Post Master's degree in
School Leadership from CUNY College of Staten Island; she then went on
to become the Assistant Principal of PS 13, a position she held for four
and a half years; and
WHEREAS, In January 2011, Janet Ndzibah accepted the position of Prin-
cipal at PS 95, in District 21, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Today, Janet Ndzibah proudly continues to work side by side
with the dedicated and hardworking assistant principals, teachers,
staff, PTA, parents, and students of PS 95; as a result, the school has
shown academic gains in both reading and mathematics over the past four
years; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her supportive husband, Kwesi
Ndzibah, and her loving children, Sierra and Maxwell, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Educator Janet Ndzibah and her dedicated staff continue to
build a collaborative professional learning community, committed to
providing a rigorous and supportive learning environment for all of the
1,000 students that the school serves; and
WHEREAS, Janet Ndzibah has brought great credit upon herself by
continually demonstrating an impressive dedication, an unparalleled

devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of the educa-
tional programs and opportunities offered at the schools where she has
served; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Janet Ndzibah has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Janet Ndzibah upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2015 Woman of the Year Award by the Bensonhurst West End Community
Council; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Janet Ndzibah.
