LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Anthony Rossello upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor
bestowed upon an individual by the New York State Senate

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Anthony
Rossello upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Liberty
Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the New York
State Senate, to be celebrated at the Rensselaer Honor A Veteran Ceremo-
ny; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by
resolution and is awarded to individuals who have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of
their fellow New Yorkers; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Rossello was one of three children born to Mary and
Santo Rossello in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1948, Anthony Rossello enlisted in the United States
Marine Corps; one year later, he was in inactive reserve, however, he
was called up to active duty within eight months and proudly served his
country for two and one-half years of active duty; and
WHEREAS, After his discharge in April of 1952, Anthony Rossello
returned to the United States, and lived in East Greenbush, New York,
working at Getty Oil for many years before his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which he lives, Anthony Rossel-
lo has volunteered his time and energy to both the Little League and
Babe Ruth baseball programs and has served as a Fireman; in addition, he
is a vital member of the Melvin Roads American Legion; and
WHEREAS, In his much deserved retirement, Anthony Rossello enjoys
spending time with his beloved family and loves to spend time on the
water fishing; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 60 years, the
former Joan Russell; his four children, Anthony, Jr., Lynn, Paul and
Joanne; and his eight grandchildren, as well as one great-grandchild,
all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Anthony Rossello demonstrated his love for his country and merits forev-
ermore the highest respect of his State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anthony Rossello upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the
New York State Senate; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anthony Rossello.
