LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Luke Hanson of Minisink Valley
High School upon the occasion of his selection as both a U. S. Lacrosse
All-American and an Academic All-American boys lacrosse player

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and
brought pride to their school and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Luke Hanson of Minisink Valley High School upon the occasion of his
selection as both a U. S. Lacrosse All-American and an Academic All-Am-
erican boys lacrosse player; and
WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Luke Hanson has distinguished
himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and maturity,
establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of
life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A gifted member of the Minisink Valley High School Lacrosse
Team, Luke Hanson's perseverance in rising through the ranks of high
school lacrosse players is a strong indication of his ability to master
difficult tasks; his accomplishments will enable him to emerge as a
leader, fully equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex socie-
ty; and
WHEREAS, In order to be selected as a member of the U.S. Lacrosse
All-American Team, a player must be a first team member of the All-
State, All-County or All-League team; players must also be of outstand-
ing character, be in good academic standing, and demonstrate good
sportsmanship and safe play; and
WHEREAS, In addition to Luke Hanson's superior lacrosse skills and
techniques, his exceptional game sense and knowledge have made him the
best lacrosse player from his area; and
WHEREAS, The criteria for membership to the U.S. Lacrosse All-Academic
Team also requires the student to represent high standards of academic
achievement in the classroom; and
WHEREAS, A proud member of the National Honor Society, Luke Hanson is
ranked 5th in his class with a 98.58 GPA; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his school community and the promise of a bright
future, Luke Hanson has been a vital part of organizations such as the
Future Leaders of America and Students Taking Action Together; and
WHEREAS, In addition to playing on the lacrosse team, Luke Hanson is a
valuable member of the Minisink Valley High School Football Team, where
he served as the Captain; well-liked and respected by his fellow class-
mates, he was elected Secretary of his Junior Class; and
WHEREAS, Luke Hanson has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; he has shared his athletic prowess at sporting
programs such as youth lacrosse and the Minisink Valley Football Camp,
and generously donated his time and energy serving food at NHS Veterans
Dinners, raising funds through Tricky Tray events for worthy organiza-
tions, and assisting with various senior citizens projects; and
WHEREAS, A faithful congregant of the Holy Name of Christ Church, Luke
Hanson serves as a lector; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Luke Hanson has
brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Luke Hanson may stand with pride in his achievements, experi-
encing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he continues

his education at Manhattan College where he will major in Business and
Accounting while competing in lacrosse; and
WHEREAS, Luke Hanson represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Luke Hanson of Minisink Valley High School upon the occasion of
his selection as both a U. S. Lacrosse All-American and an Academic
All-American boys lacrosse player, and to wish him well in his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Luke Hanson.
