LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Long Island Girls Lacrosse
Team upon the occasion of being declared 2014 National Brine Classic
Co-Champions

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive team sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, teamwork, and a dedicated
coaching staff; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island Girls Lacrosse Team through their hard work
and dedication have become Co-Champions at the 2014 National Brine Clas-
sic played in Boyds, Maryland on June 30-July 3, 2014; and
WHEREAS, This collection of outstanding student-athletes defeated
teams from across the United States, including California, Michigan,
Georgia, and Minnesota on their way to reaching the championship round;
they were declared Co-Champions after the final game against the New
Jersey team was called due to inclement weather; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Long Island Girls Lacrosse Team rallied behind
one another in establishing a sisterhood of athletic ability and good
sportsmanship, while demonstrating that these players are second to
none; and
WHEREAS, The team's record is outstanding, and the team members were
loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends and the
community at large; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the team members have proven
themselves to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favor-
ably on their respective schools and the entire Long Island community;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Long Island Girls Lacrosse Team upon the occasion of
being declared 2014 National Brine Classic Co-Champions; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Long Island Girls Lacrosse Team.
