LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 8th Annual Grenada, Carriacou
and Petite Martinique Day on July 17, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those of true purpose and worthy accomplishment who foster a spirit of
community and service and, simultaneously, work diligently to preserve
their rich cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 8th Annual Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique Day spon-
sored by GRENCAP United Inc., to be celebrated on Sunday, July 17, 2016;
and
WHEREAS, Formed in 2009, GRENCAP United Inc.'s mission is to mobilize
the power of stakeholders for positive change to strengthen, promote and
empower our communities in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut
Areas, and in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique through a variety
of innovative programs, activities and services; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of President, Roy McKenzie, the event
will be celebrated with cultural, social and culinary talents of the
people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique; and
WHEREAS, Through their long and sustained commitment to freedom, the
people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique have so heroically
advanced that spirit of united purpose and shared concern which is the
unalterable manifestation of our shared humanity; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 8th Annual Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique Day
on July 17, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to President Roy McKenzie, GRENCAP United Inc.
