LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the found-
ing of the New York branch of the SING TAO DAILY Newspaper
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and recognize
those journalism and media outlets which, through coverage of local,
state and national, and international issues have shared current and
historical events with their readers; and
WHEREAS, Sing Tao New York is a media organization that has contin-
ually brought timely, and community oriented, Chinese-language informa-
tion to New York's Chinese-American community for half a century; and
WHEREAS, Sing Tao New York serves as an international communications
link, keeping the Chinese-American community in New York up to date on
news at the local, national, and international level; and
WHEREAS, In 1965, SING TAO DAILY opened its first overseas office in
New York City, and has since become a staple in the Chinese-American
community with a large readership base due to its journalism standards,
quality of reporting, and broad coverage; and
WHEREAS, After beginning its flagship operation in New York half a
century ago, Sing Tao expanded to other major cities, including Boston,
Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Sing Tao New York's reporting has been recognized repeatedly
for its quality journalism, and has received several CUNY Center for
Community and Ethnic Media Ippies journalism awards due to its outstand-
ing work in reporting Chinese-language news; and
WHEREAS, Sing Tao New York continues to forge ahead to this day under
the leadership of CEO Robin Mui, cementing its reputation as a thorough
community news source and a trusted platform for today's debates and
opinions; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Sing Tao New York
on its 50th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional media outlet and its valuable contributions to
the community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the New York branch
of the SING TAO DAILY Newspaper; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sing Tao New York.
