LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Tim Timmerman for 50 distinguished
years as Coach of the Cardinals Little League Team in Arkport, New York,
on May 7, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to commend notable athletic coaches who
serve the youth of this great Empire State and who have distinguished
themselves through outstanding commitment and exemplary athletic
achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Tim Timmerman for 50 distinguished years as Coach of the Cardinals
Little League Team; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious event was celebrated at the Tim Timmerman's
Opening Day on Saturday, May 7, 2016, on the Fred Kemp Memorial Field,
Arkport, New York; and
WHEREAS, As part of the ceremony, members of the current teams were
called onto the field to be recognized and the last 60 to come out were
former members of teams that Tim Timmerman had coached over the last
five decades; the players came from Arkport and the surrounding areas,
including many traveling from out-of-state, to honor this man who has
given so much to the kids in Arkport and baseball as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Along with the stirring processional, Tim Timmerman was
presented with many gifts from his adoring players, making him feel like
the richest person in Arkport; and
WHEREAS, At a young age, Tim Timmerman loved to play baseball with his
father; his love for the game continued when he played on the Arkport
Central School Baseball Team, under Coach Frank Rose; and
WHEREAS, In 1966, Little League Baseball was established in Arkport,
and Tim Timmerman was chosen to coach a team, which he named the Cardi-
nals; 50 years later, he is still coaching the boys and assisting them
in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and
physical well-being; and
WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to Arkport
Little League, Tim Timmerman was named the 2016 Sportsperson of the Year
at the 43rd Annual Hornell Sports Night Awards Dinner; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the last 50 years, Tim Timmerman has faithfully
devoted his purposeful energy to fostering opportunities for and to
contributing to the quality of life for the youth of the communities he
serves; and
WHEREAS, Tim Timmerman's positive demeanor, selfless commitment, and
caring concern have contributed to his enduring success as a coach and
mentor, earning him the just respect and admiration of his community,
his peers, and the athletes he has so ably coached; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Tim Timmerman for 50 distinguished years as Coach of the Cardi-
nals Little League Team in Arkport, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tim Timmerman.
