LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Yulia Ivanova upon the occasion of
winning the Level 6 New York State Gymnastic Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive athletics can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, teamwork and a dedicated coaching
staff; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
young people within the State of New York who, by achieving outstanding
success in athletic competition, have inspired and brought pride to
their school and community; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Yulia Ivanova, a seventh grader at Eagle Hill Middle School
in Manlius, New York, earned a place in the Level 6 New York State
Gymnastic Championship in every single meet that she competed in since
joining the Rochester Gymnastics Academy in 2015; in order to compete in
the state championship, athletes must receive a score of 32.00 or higher
at a New York state qualifying meet; and
WHEREAS, On May 14, 2016, at Monroe Community College in Rochester,
Yulia Ivanova placed first in the Level 6 New York State Gymnastic Cham-
pionship, surpassing the scores of 247 other competitors in Level 6; and
WHEREAS, Yulia Ivanova won all four individual events, earning a score
of 9.525 in the Balance Beam, 9.6 in the Uneven Bars, 9.775 in the Floor
Exercise, 9.775 in the Vault, and an impressive all-around score of
38.675, which was the highest score of the state championship event; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding student and gymnast has proven to be an
unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably on her family,
her school and community; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Yulia Ivanova is due in
great part to the efforts of Coaches Barry Coss and Youlia Coss, of
Rochester Gymnastics Academy in East Rochester, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire season, Yulia Ivanova was always loyal-
ly and enthusiastically supported by her family, friends and fans from
throughout the entire community; and
WHEREAS, Members of the talented Rochester Gymnastics Academy Team
rallied behind one another in establishing a sisterhood of athletic
ability and good sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, Yulia Ivanova's team demonstrated that they also are second
to none by collectively earning the highest Level 6 team score in the
state championship, finishing the meet with an impressive score of
192.3000; and
WHEREAS, Yulia Ivanova may stand with pride as she assesses her
achievements and experiences the action of her labors; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Yulia Ivanova upon the occasion of winning the Level 6 New
York State Championship; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Yulia Ivanova and Coaches, Barry Coss and Youlia Coss.
