LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Lynn W. Graham upon the occasion
of celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate and
recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great Nation
and Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Lynn W. Graham of Scio, New York, upon the occasion of celebrating
his 100th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, Lynn W. Graham was born on March 7, 1915, in Angelica, New
York, to James Fredrick "Fred" Graham and Elma Melissa Cline Graham, and
attended Angelica Central School; and
WHEREAS, Lynn W. Graham enlisted in the United States Army in November
of 1936; following five years of distinguished service, he enrolled as a
member of the Army's Enlisted Reserve Corps for one year; and
WHEREAS, On November 30, 1942, he returned to active duty and was
assigned to the 47th Battalion's Service Company, as a member of the
14th Armored Division; and
WHEREAS, After landing in Marseille, France, on October 29, 1944, the
14th Armored Division fought its way through the Vosges Mountains and
captured Germersheim, Germany, in March of 1945; the division then
crossed the Danube and Isar Rivers near Moosburg, and liberated over
110,000 Allied prisoners held at Stalag VIIA, Germany's largest prison-
er-of-war camp, earning the nickname, "The Liberator Division"; and
WHEREAS, For his service, Lynn W. Graham, who reached the rank of
Corporal, is credited with the Central Europe and Rhineland campaigns;
he was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service
Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle East
Campaign Medal with two service stars, the World War II Victory Medal,
and the U.S. Marksman Badge with carbine bar; and
WHEREAS, Following his return home, Lynn W. Graham became a Tool and
Die maker at Turbodyne Corporation, later known as the Studebaker-Worth-
ington Company, in Wellsville for 39 years, before retiring in February
of 1980; and
WHEREAS, Lynn and his wife, the late Geraldine Eva Graham, married on
November 13, 1941; the couple celebrated 67 years together and had one
daughter, Lynda Lee Rogers; Lynn has been further blessed with a grand-
daughter, Christine Anne Rogers-Raetsch; and
WHEREAS, Along with being a loving father, Lynn W. Graham is known to
his friends and family as a good neighbor, an avid fisherman and hunter,
a gardener who enjoys growing blueberries, and for his enjoyment of many
card games and Sudoko puzzles; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a remark-
able age and who have witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural
developments, and awesome achievements of this country during the last
century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Lynn W. Graham upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lynn W. Graham.
