LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending New Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal
Church upon the occasion of celebrating its inaugural Appreciation
Sunday event on September 11, 2016
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commending New Life
Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church upon the occasion of celebrating
its inaugural Appreciation Sunday event on September 11, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The United Pentecostal Church of North America has estab-
lished an Appreciation Sunday for police officers across the Nation;
this event will be launched in September of 2016; and
WHEREAS, In light of this, New Life Tabernacle UPC, a member of the
United Pentecostal Church, located in Brooklyn, New York, will honor 50
police officers within its surrounding communities; and
WHEREAS, September 11, 2016, has been chosen exclusively to celebrate
the valor of the men and women who have demonstrated acts of bravery in
the face of terrorism; this auspicious event will highlight individuals
who serve their municipalities well, educate citizens of the vital role
of officers in our communities and celebrate their success; and
WHEREAS, In addition, New Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church is
seeking to not only bridge the gap, but also to restore confidence
between the community and law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Pastor Michael A. Mitchell,
New Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church stands on the threshold of
tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades while
retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes its past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend New Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church upon the occasion
of celebrating its inaugural Appreciation Sunday event on September 11,
2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Pastor Michael A. Mitchell, New Life Tabernacle United Pente-
costal Church, Brooklyn, New York.
