LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Chandler M. Ralph upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Dr. Edward L. Trudeau Award by the
Adirondack Health Foundation on July 9, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Chandler M. Ralph upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Dr. Edward L. Trudeau Award by the Adirondack Health Foundation, to
be celebrated at its Diamonds and Denim Gala on Saturday, July 9, 2016,
in Lake Placid, New York; and
WHEREAS, For the past 21 years, Chandler M. Ralph has rendered faith-
ful, conscientious and valuable service to Adirondack Health; and
WHEREAS, After a stellar career in the field of health care that
spanned more than two decades, Chandler M. Ralph's continued thoughts,
words and actions give unparalleled testament to a life dedicated to the
service industry; and
WHEREAS, Since 1995, Chandler M. Ralph has served as President and
Chief Executive Officer of Adirondack Health in the Saranac Lake/Lake
Placid area; she has spent countless hours dedicating herself to the
continued success of this prestigious health care provider that boasts
two hospital sites, two nursing homes, and three primary care outreach
clinics; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Chandler M. Ralph, Adirondack
Health focuses on bringing appropriate clinical services to the Tri-
Lakes area of the Adirondacks, and providing regional services of excel-
lence including orthopedics, bariatric surgery, and psycho-geriatric
services; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to quality patient
care and service, Chandler M. Ralph has been instrumental in making a
difference in the lives of countless patients; and
WHEREAS, Chandler M. Ralph earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Biomedical Engineering in 1975, as well as a Master of Management and
Industrial Engineering degree in 1981, both from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, by 1985, RPI bestowed yet another degree upon
her in the form of a Master of Business Administration in Health
Systems; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious career, Chandler M. Ralph has
worked as Vice President for Operations and Planning at Columbia Memori-
al Hospital in Hudson, New York; was a Senior Manager with the Health
Care Operations Consulting Group for Ernst & Young in New York City; and
served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Mercy Center for
Health Services at Mercy Hospital in Watertown, New York, prior to
assuming her role at Adirondack Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, Along with her academic success and prolific career, Chandler
M. Ralph has been the proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades
including the Athena Award by the Greater Watertown Chamber of Commerce,
the New York State Woman of Distinction Award, the Friends of Mercy
Award, HANYS Innovation Award for Uninsured Task Force, ACHE Regents
Award and the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to her community, Chandler M. Ralph has served
such organizations as St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Center, Saranac Lake
Rotary Club, Adirondack Economic Development Corporation, and the Girl
Scouts of Northeastern New York; and

WHEREAS, Professionally, Chandler M. Ralph has also served the Ameri-
can Hospital Association, American College of Health Care Executives
(ACHE), ACHE Regent's Advisory Committee, Northeastern New York Health-
care Association, Federation of American Health Systems, Adirondack
Health Institute, New York State Medicaid Redesign Task Force, and the
National Institute for Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism; and
WHEREAS, A very prominent and highly respected woman, Chandler M.
Ralph is the Founding Chair of the Helena Ptochia Foundation whose
mission is to raise capital and operational funds to build and operate a
hospital for women injured in childbirth in Ghana, West Africa; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as President and Chief Executive Officer,
Chandler M. Ralph served with loyalty, honor and distinction earning her
the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her loving husband, David
Aldrich, who feels privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in
her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Chandler M. Ralph over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication
to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chandler M. Ralph upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Dr. Edward L. Trudeau Award by the Adirondack Health Founda-
tion on July 9, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chandler M. Ralph.
