LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kara Sue Pitkin upon the occasion of
receiving the distinguished Gold Standard Certification by the National
Board for Professional Teaching Standards
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant achievements in the distinguished careers of those outstand-
ing educational leaders, whose dedication and accomplishments have been
instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kara
Sue Pitkin upon the occasion of receiving the distinguished Gold Stand-
ard Certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Stand-
ards; and
WHEREAS, Kara Sue Pitkin was recognized for this auspicious honor at
an Awards Ceremony in January of 2015, during a Teacher's Conference in
Syracuse, New York; and
WHEREAS, Kara Sue Pitkin is a Teacher of Music at Stillwater Central
School District, Stillwater, New York; her students range from early
adolescents through young adults; and
WHEREAS, Gold Standard Certification is awarded to teachers who volun-
tarily have their teaching methods evaluated through a series of perfor-
mance-based assessments, including teaching portfolios, student work
examples, and student learning; and
WHEREAS, Educators like Kara Sue Pitkin provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young
people in their educational journeys and ensuring success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Kara Sue Pitkin has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Stillwater Central School District, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
her impressive dedication to her students; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals such as Kara Sue Pitkin who works to
support our proud tradition of public education by providing skills and
talents to our schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kara Sue Pitkin upon the occasion of receiving the distinguished
Gold Standard Certification by the National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards, and for her significant contributions to education
in New York State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kara Sue Pitkin.
