LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ann Prusinski upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2015 Woman of the Year Award by The
Professional Women of Sullivan County

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Ann Prusinski has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ann Prusinski
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2015 Woman of
the Year Award by The Professional Women of Sullivan County, celebrated
at its Woman of the Year Dinner, on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the
Eagle's Nest, Bloomingburg, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1919, the mission of Professional Women of
Sullivan County, Inc. (PWSC) is to promote New York State women as
participants in the workforce, support of pay equity, and encourage
economic self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, PWSC, Inc. provides its members with programs designed to
enhance their knowledge and awareness of community, political, and
health issues; they work together to advance the personal, professional,
and political development of its members and work at providing a vital
link to other working women in our communities; and
WHEREAS, Ann Prusinski grew up in Mountain Dale, New York, with her
close-knit family; she graduated from Fallsburg Central High School in
Fallsburg, New York, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in
History and Theater from Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at the
State University of New York at Binghamton; and
WHEREAS, A six-week college credit tour of Europe and the Middle East
in 1979, piqued Ann Prusinski's interest in travel; she became a tour
guide for Cosmos/Globus Gateway and led tours of America for British
tourists; and
WHEREAS, Ann Prusinski then went on to become a partner in Umbrella
Singles and Stardust Dance Productions, two companies which sold out
numerous events in multiple hotels year round; and
WHEREAS, In 1985, Ann Prusinski held the positions of both Town Clerk
and Tax Collector for two terms; she was elected to the Fallsburg Town
Board where she proudly served for 14 years as the only woman ever to be
elected to the Board; and
WHEREAS, Active within her community, Ann Prusinski has been involved
in numerous associations such as the Sullivan County Visitors Associ-
ation, Sullivan Renaissance, Sullivan County SPCA, Sullivan County
Dramatic Workshop Board, the Federation for the Homeless, and the Sulli-
van County Chamber of Commerce; in addition, she served as Secretary for
We the People, an organization created to advocate on behalf of open
government and the repeal of tax exempt laws; and
WHEREAS, For three years, Ann Prusinski was an actor for the Safe
Passages Program in which she performed presentations which exposed
myths surrounding domestic violence; most recently, she became involved
in Guiding Eyes and, in the future, hopes to raise a puppy that will
became a service animal; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her career and community endeavors, Ann
Prusinski still enjoys traveling and recently traveled to Morocco,
Iceland, and Guatemala; and

WHEREAS, Ann Prusinski has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ann Prusinski has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ann Prusinski upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2015 Woman of the Year Award by The Professional Women of Sullivan
County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ann Prusinski.
