LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Kyle Yuan of Port Washington, New
York, upon the occasion of being named the New York State Debate Coaches
Association Champion

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those who, by achieving outstanding success in their educa-
tional and extra-curricular endeavors, have inspired and brought pride
to our majestic Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
the dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish them-
selves through excellence in oratorical competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Kyle Yuan of Port Washington, New York, upon the occasion of being
named the New York State Debate Coaches Association Champion; and
WHEREAS, Eighth grader Kyle Yuan competed in the Junior Varsity
Lincoln Douglas division of the New York State Debate Coaches Associ-
ation Annual Debate Tournament; even though his oldest competitor was
four years older than him, he still won the coveted title of State Cham-
pion; and
WHEREAS, Kyle Yuan has taken the debate world by storm this year; he
advanced to the playoff round at Harvard University in the Junior Varsi-
ty division and was ranked 17th out of over 200 debaters; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Kyle Yuan advanced to the quarter finals in the
varsity division at the Westchester Classic Debate Invitational and was
ranked the third best speaker at the tournament; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate and applaud the individual
accomplishments of remarkable students such as Kyle Yuan in this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Kyle
Yuan for his latest achievement, and for his noteworthy educational and
extracurricular endeavors and achievements; his outstanding performance
has clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a
tradition of his school and community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Kyle Yuan of Port Washington, New York, upon the occasion
of being named the New York State Debate Coaches Association Champion;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kyle Yuan.
