LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending EMT Jeffrey Brenner upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the Louis J. Acampora Heart Saver
Award by the American Heart Association

WHEREAS, Volunteer ambulance corps members are an important part of the
safety net of America's healthcare system; they provide lifesaving care
to those in need, 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those individuals within the State of New York who perform
acts of heroic dimension; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
EMT Jeffrey Brenner upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Louis J. Acampora Heart Saver Award by the American Heart Associ-
ation, celebrated at a dinner at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Wood-
bury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The prestigious Louis J. Acampora Heart Saver Award is named
for a Long Island teenager who succumbed to a sporting injury that may
have been preventable if a cardiac medical device had been available for
use by trained individuals; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey Brenner received this auspicious award for his quick
and effective lifesaving actions; during a Christmas 2013 presentation
of "White Christmas" at the Engeman Theater in Northport, New York, a
fellow theater-goer went into cardiac arrest; Jeffrey Brenner quickly
jumped into action and used his well-honed skills to save the victim's
life; and
WHEREAS, At the young age of 14, Jeffrey Brenner was a member of
Explorer Post 215, a youth organization affiliated with the Huntington
Community First Aid Squad (HCFAS) in promoting education and training in
emergency medical services; during that time, he rose to the position of
Chief; and
WHEREAS, Upon officially joining HCFAS in 2005, Jeffrey Brenner
successfully completed the New York State Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT) course; he also worked for the Huntington YMCA Summer Camp in the
First Aid office, and as an EMT with the New York State Parks Depart-
ment; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey Brenner proudly comes from a long line of fire rescue
and medical volunteers in the Long Island, New York Emergency Medical
Services (EMS) community; he and his family members combined have
contributed approximately 150 years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Jeffrey Brenner is employed as a Hyperbaric Tech-
nician with the Life Support Technologies Group at Winthrop University
Hospital in Mineola, New York; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey Brenner is known throughout his community for excel-
lence and professionalism, always going the extra mile in the provision
of care to people in need; his hard work embodies the dedication,
compassion, and respect displayed by emergency responders across this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, In the performance of his duties, Jeffrey Brenner has demon-
strated his character and his concern for the welfare of others; he is a
tremendous asset to the HCFAS and the residents of his community, the
State and the Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend EMT Jeffrey Brenner upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Louis J. Acampora Heart Saver Award by the American
Heart Association; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to EMT Jeffrey Brenner.
