LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating student-athlete Stephen Millhaven
upon the occasion of being named 2014 Player of the Year by the Long
Island Catholic High School Basketball League
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize our
young individuals, who strive for athletic and academic excellence
through rigorous training and mental and physical discipline; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late student-athlete Stephen Millhaven upon the occasion of being named
2014 Player of the Year by the Long Island Catholic High School Basket-
ball League; and
WHEREAS, A vital member of the St. Mary's High School Basketball Team,
Stephen Millhaven displayed outstanding athletic skill, and exemplary
sportsmanship to be named the Long Island Catholic High School Basket-
ball League's Player of the Year; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed young man was also selected for the 2014 All-
Island First Team; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Stephen Millhaven has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate student-athlete Stephen Millhaven upon the occasion of
being named 2014 Player of the Year by the Long Island Catholic High
School Basketball League; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stephen Millhaven.
