LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Detachment Commander Charles M. Depo
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Sullivan County American Legion on March 11, 2015
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Charles M. Depo has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sons of the
American Legion Detachment Commander Charles M. Depo upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition by the Sullivan County Ameri-
can Legion to be celebrated at its annual dinner visitation on Wednes-
day, March 11, 2015, at the Eagles Nest in Bloomingburg, New York; and
WHEREAS, One of the fundamental aims of the American Legion was to
create a fraternity based upon firm comradeship, born of war service,
and dedicated to equitable treatment for all veterans, particularly the
suffering and disabled, their widows and children; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Plattsburgh, New York, Charles "Chuck" M.
Depo graduated from Keeseville Central School; and
WHEREAS, For over 34 years, Charles M. Depo was employed by Imperial
Wallpaper Mill for over 34 years and was President of its Union Local
909 for 22 years until the closure of the plant; and
WHEREAS, Charles M. Depo was then employed as a shipping and receiving
Manager at Michael's Arts and Crafts until his retirement in 2006; and
WHEREAS, For over 22 years, Charles M. Depo has been a proud and dedi-
cated member of Sons of the American Legion Squadron No. 20 in Platts-
burgh; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his many years of service to Sons of the American
Legion, Charles M. Depo has been involved in numerous projects including
procuring a softball field for the local youth in West Chazy, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Charles M. Depo has held several positions in all levels of
the American Legion, and for four years, was a member of the Americanism
Commission; recently, he completed his second term as Detachment Vice
Commander for both Districts 3 and 4; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Nancy, his five chil-
dren, and seven grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Charles M. Depo has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Detachment Commander Charles M. Depo upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Sullivan County American
Legion on March 11, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Detachment Commander Charles M. Depo.
